BANGOR’S picturesque Walled Garden looks set to burst into full bloom thanks to the return of the popular ‘ForM’ sculpture exhibition.

Artists are now being invited to make submissions for the open air exhibition in the historic walled garden, at Valentine Road, in Castle Park, by Wednesday, March 25.

Set to be on display throughout the month of June, a total of 30 sculptures of various sizes and mediums will compliment the summer garden.

Artists are asked to consider that the garden is open to the public and work should be durable and able to last the duration of the exhibition.

Patricia Hamilton, arts officer with North Down Borough council said, “This will be our third sculpture exhibition, but it is the first year of open submissions, it has previously been an invited exhibition.

“We are now giving the opportunity to anybody who works in 3D to make a work appropriate for an outdoor exhibition to apply. We are looking for site-specific work, the proposal could be an existing piece of work or it could be a new piece of work specifically created for the garden.”

Patricia is looking forward to building on the exhibition’s past success saying, “The exhibitions have been extremely successful in the past. It has brought a different audience to the walled garden and the sculptures nearly have to be discovered within the foliage and vegetables.”
