Hi Everypawdy,
In this short Blog I would like to give you all some basic infurmation, and layout the basics for a doggy First Aid Kit to keep handy, hopefully you will never need it but it is always better to be safe!
A dogs rectal-temperature is normally 39C. We only know this coz we wuz told, there no vet in the land that gonnapersuade Beau that him need his temperature take, I has heard what did happen last time an it not a pretty picture... as for me a Princess no has temperature taken like that, perish the thought!!
OK so this close to ma heart, as I did get stung by a bee when me wuz little puppy.. I hurts an is scary! Ma whole muzzle did swell up, an I did has go see vet, an gots injection an tablets. Always be ware of bees an especially wasps.
Sometimes you not see the sting happen so a couple of indicators are (that things to look out for):
Often we gets stung on our muzzle as we have been sniffing and poking around, just being interested in things as we dogs are. So normally swelling or redness will be around here, or in our mouths. Keep an eye on the swelling and if it gets bad, or look like it might block an airway straight to the vet!!
If the swelling isn't too bad and the sting is still in, use something to scrap out the sting, don’t use tweezers as this will force out any of the sting that is left in the stinger - and get your tweezers all yucky!! Also have some doggy piriton in the doggy first aid kid - this is an anti-histamine that will combat the allergic reaction. You should be able to get a small supply from your vet to keep for emergencies... I do take everyday to help with ma many allergies an them ok :)
This is a basic First aid kit to have around the home/car for minor incidents with dogs, remember major cuts, swelling etc. you need to use the last item!!
Basic first aid kit
Me hopes that you is be a little more prepareded, an remember anything that you thinks might be helpful in your furst-aid kit add it in!!
